I've noticed Google has put in lots of search positions for Google Places for my industry. Why is Google Places up there in the listings?

Yellow book gone
Its had a good run, but I think that the book is dead. Yellow has left its run too late to get into web and there is no incentive for users to go to them instead of going to who they trust, Google, to direct them to the right info.

I'm also interested in how much people are spending on the online listing of Yellow. Is there value in it? It costs quite a lot per lead and I'm not sure if the stats are legit or not

I think bing is a good search engine, but it doesnt have anything over google, so dont think people will leave in droves.....unless google starts putting prices throrugh the roof for their advertising or putting heaps of advertising all through the results. if bing was clean and free of the annoying sponsored links, then i'd probably swap and only use it.

Sorry, but Bing and any attempt by Microsoft to change some layout and colours to try to become relevant in the search engine market, is futile. Bing will need to do something 'innovative' that people will actually recognise as more than an attempt to catch up with the Google monster.

Microsoft's billion dollar advertising budget must have been used up. after bribing all those people into using their search engine, i wonder if they got any real long term benefit. if anything theyve lost ground

Yes, u could say that Google is trying to localise your search results, but it makes it more difficult for you to get your site clicked on for lots of geotargets.
